The government's official consultation on Heathrow expansion closed on the 1st September 2026.

The government will consider all of the responses it receives, and the Transport Committee's findings, before deciding whether the Heathrow Expansion National Policy Statement (HENPS) will be amended and then finalised.
Parliament will also need to vote on the policy before it goes ahead. It is the government’s ambition that those stages would be completed by the end of 2026.
